Easy DIY Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub

Easy DIY Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub

No need to spend tons of money on various sugar scrubs that may even end up irritating your skin. Tame that winter dryness and create your own moisturizing exfoliant at home in just a few minutes!

I suffer from sensitive skin and eczema (primarily on my hands) so I have a difficult time finding products that don’t do more harm than good. Today I’m sharing my go-to recipe for sugar scrub that’s easy to make and can be customized to your preference. All you need is four ingredients (and it can even be made with TWO)!*

1 cup white sugar (use organic cane sugar, if you prefer)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted but not too hot (use organic virgin, if you prefer)
essential oils of your choice, optional

Mix sugars in a bowl. Add coconut oil and essential oils. Mix thoroughly and voila, the perfect scrub for your hands and feet! Can it get any easier?

This can totally be adjusted to your liking. If you’re making scrub for your feet and prefer it to be more coarse, use only brown sugar or even try raw sugar. If you want your scrub to be les abrasive, for use on your face or lips, go with all white sugar and add additional coconut oil.

And finally, the best part is you get to pick whatever scent you like and make it as subtle or strong as you want. I recommend starting with about 10 drops. My favorite essential oils are lavender, peppermint, lemon, or even a combination of scents. The possibilities are endless!

This recipe makes about 2 cups of sugar scrub and is the perfect gift for teachers, friends and family! I keep a jar near the kitchen sink for a quick moisturizing treatment and also by the shower as a gentle all-over exfoliant.
